Meet Our Students

Srabonti

In nurturing a family of seven, Srabonti’s parents do their best to resource their family home with a $90 monthly income. Nevertheless, even with economic scarcity and egregious circumstances, Srabonti does not lose hope. As an eighth-grader, she is the youngest of her siblings and the only one with an opportunity to complete high school education. Due to financial constraints, marriage seemed like the only possible option for her elder sister, who was 14 years old at the time. MayaFunds is helping Srabonti by providing a scholarship and stipend to cover her education and food expenses. Our work is not only to help Srabonti and her parents envision the value of investing in education, but also to realize that vision through the support of monetary funds. We thank you for making this work possible.

Shanta

Meet Shanta, one of MayaFunds' first scholarship recipients. She is in 6th grade. Her father is a rickshaw driver who earns about 300 taka ($3.60) a day and her mother is a homemaker. MayaFunds is providing Shanta with a scholarship which will cover the cost of tuition, books, school supplies. It will also cover transportation to and from school, and lunch so Shanta can continue her education.
